This healthy buffalo sauce is so addictive that you will want to put it on just about anything. My family goes crazy for this sauce and they love it as a nice spicy addition to their favorite dishes.

What is Buffalo Sauce?
Buffalo sauce is a spicy, creamy, bright orange sauce that is peppery and tangy at the same time. It is traditionally made from a blend of hot sauce, butter, vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce.
If you are wondering how “Buffalo sauce” got its name if there is no actual buffalo in it then here you go! It seems that it was originally created in Buffalo New York by a bartender in the 70s as a condiment for chicken wings. It really is great on chicken wings, so hat’s off to her!

Ingredients in healthy buffalo sauce
- Hot sauce – any hot sauce is fine in this recipe. I used Cholula Hot Sauce.
- Butter – unsalted butter is best, you could also use ghee.
- Apple cider vinegar – this is key in this recipe and gives the buffalo sauce a nice zippy flavor.
- Tomato paste
- Honey – or maple syrup to cut through some of the spicy notes.
- Seasoning – garlic powder, salt, and pepper
How to make homemade buffalo sauce
This easy recipe is made all in one pan in minutes.
- Add all of the ingredients to a pot on the stovetop over medium heat and whisk it until the butter is fully melted and the sauce is nice and silky and shiny.
- Remove it from the heat and let it sit for 1-2 minutes before serving.

- 3 tablespoons butter – I used grass-fed butter
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt
- ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
