The kids are not into spicy foods yet but for some reason they love buffalo sauce on egg muffins and chicken tenders. Which is great since it is healthy and homemade and get’s those tastebuds excited for whatever you slather it on.

    What is Buffalo Sauce?

Buffalo sauce is a spicy, creamy, bright orange sauce that is peppery and tangy at the same time. It is traditionally made from a blend of hot sauce, butter, vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce.

If you are wondering how “Buffalo sauce” got its name if there is no actual buffalo in it then here you go! It seems that it was originally created in Buffalo New York by a bartender in the 70s as a condiment for chicken wings. It really is great on chicken wings, so hat’s off to her!

Spoon in a glass jar filled with red buffalo sauce.

    Is buffalo sauce healthy?

Yes, buffalo sauce is healthy if you enjoy it in moderation, like anything. There are actually health benefits to the spicy peppers used in the hot sauce. Especially when it is paired with a healthy fat like grass-fed butter or ghee. Check this out for more information on the healthy benefits of buffalo sauce.

    • Tomato paste
