What is cajun seasoning?
It is a traditional spice blend that originated in Louisiana that has a slightly spicy, herby flavor. Many people, like me have come up with their own versions because the spices included in it can be adjusted and customized easily. You will usually see cajun seasoning on dishes like cajun salmon or chicken as well as in jambalaya or shrimp.

FAQs
Does this seasoning have gluten in it?
This Cajun Seasoning blend is totally gluten free. Paprika is really the only seasoning that I find gluten in besides the mixed store-bought blends. Making your own spice blend will ensure there is no gluten in it since you know what you are putting in it.
What is the difference between Cajun Seasoning and creole seasoning?
Cajun seasoning traditionally has fewer spices in it and has a more rustic, earthy flavor. Creole seasoning is usually more salty, spicy and herby since it has additional spices in it like thyme, rosemary and cayenne pepper.
How do you store homemade seasoning?
You can easily store this seasoning in a glass spice jar fitted with a tight lid and keep it in a spice cabinet, drawer or pantry for up to 6 months.
I love the fact that you have complete control in this recipe to add however much spice or salt you want. That is the joy of making your own homemade version.
Ways to use Cajun seasoning
This seasoning works great on chicken, fish, in jambalaya or mixed in with cooked brown rice for extra flavor.
It is also great with eggs, or to add some flavor to veggies before you roast them. I particularly enjoy this on broccoli or crispy potatoes.
