The combination of the cooked ground taco meat mixed with perfectly air fried sweet potatoes, creamy avocado and cottage cheese all topped with a drizzle of hot honey was amazing!

Ingredients you’ll need for this cottage cheese sweet potato beef bowl
You only need a few simple ingredients to make this viral beef, sweet potato, cottage cheese bowl. Here is what you’ll need:

- Ground beef – I like to use 93/7 grass-fed ground beef but any ground beef or ground turkey will work in this recipe.
- Sweet potato – you’ll need 2 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and chopped. You could also use sweet potato fries if you prefer. Not as healthy but just as good.
- Avocado – fresh diced avocado gives this healthy bowl a nice dose of healthy fats and fiber.
- Cottage cheese – any cottage cheese will work. I prefer 4% milkfat cottage cheese like Good Culture.
- Taco seasoning, salt and pepper – adds flavor to the meat and potatoes.
- Olive oil + avocado oil – healthy oils are used to cook the meat and potatoes.
- Mike’s hot honey – the best hot honey out there that takes this bowl to a whole new level of deliciousness.

How to make the hot honey ground beef sweet potato bowl
Here is a summary for how to make this viral ground beef bowl with sweet potato with step by step photos to help guide you.

Step 1: Peel and chop the sweet potato, season it and add it to the air fryer.

Step 2: Air fry the sweet potatoes until tender and golden – about 15-20 minutes.

- Season the beef well – I used taco seasoning, oil and tomato paste to season the ground beef and it was packed with flavor.
- Cottage cheese – any type of cottage cheese will work here but 4% small curd cottage cheese was my favorite. If you don’t like the texture of cottage cheese you can blend it before adding it to your bowl.
- Add the avocado last since it can turn brown quickly
- Use a small drizzle of hot honey since a little bit goes a long way.

Store leftover meat, potatoes and cottage cheese in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.

This viral ground beef sweet potato bowl with hot honey is the perfect balanced, high protein bowl that makes a satisfying dinner that takes under 30 minutes to make!
Ingredients
- 2 medium sweet potatoes – peeled and chopped into 1-inch pieces
- 1–2 tablespoons of olive oil or olive oil spray
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- ⅓ teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 2 teaspoons avocado oil
- 2 tablespoons taco seasoning
- 2 teaspoons tomato paste
- 1 medium ripe avocado- peeled and diced
- ⅔ cup cottage cheese
- drizzle of hot honey
Instructions
Cook the sweet potatoes
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F.
- Toss the sweet potatoes in a bowl with olive oil, salt and pepper and any other seasoning you like.
- Transfer the seasoned sweet potato cubes to the air fryer in a single layer (a little overlapping is okay) and cook for 15-17 minutes, tossing them in the basket halfway through cooking.
Cook the ground beef
- Heat a skillet to medium heat on the stovetop, add the oil, then add the ground beef breaking it up in the pan.
- Add in the tomato paste and taco seasoning, add a sprinkle of salt if needed, and toss and cook until the meat is all browned and no longer pink. Set aside.
Assemble the bowls
- Divide the cooked ground beef and sweet potatoes between 2-3 bowls, top with some cottage cheese, diced avocado and hot honey.
- Serve and enjoy!
