This 5 minute homemade gluten free taco seasoning is so easy to make. You can make it with the spices you have on hand and store it for months and have it ready to use in delicious gluten free Mexican inspired meals your whole family will love. It is also vegan and paleo.

Now that I am following a fully gluten free diet I have been making my own gluten free taco seasoning that I know is 100% free of gluten. I love that I know exactly what is in it and you can make it in 5 minutes and store it for up to 6 months.

Of course, it is so good that you will want to use it all the time. Also, once you make this recipe you will never want to buy store-bought again! You may also want to try this homemade fajita seasoning as well.

I have so many recipes that call for taco seasoning like these stuffed peppers, sweet potato tacos, this buddha bowl and so many more. Which is why I just needed to share this homemade taco seasoning recipe with you all. I use it all the time and I love that it is made with spices I already have in my spice drawer.

What spices are in gluten free taco seasoning?

A bunch of spices on a round white plate with labels for each spice.
    • Chili power
    • Paprika – I like to use smoked paprika but any kind will work
    • Garlic powder
    • Onion powder
    • Cumin
    • Coriander
    • Salt and pepper

You could also add Mexican oregano or even cayenne pepper if you prefer it super spicy.

How to make gluten free taco seasoning at home

It is so easy to make. Add all of the spices to a bowl and mix well. Then transfer the spice blend to a glass jar fitted with a lid and store it in a cool, dry place for up to 6 months.

I like to also use this taco spice blend for my chicken taco salad that is Mexican-inspired and makes a wonderful healthy dinner.

How to make gluten free taco meat

The most common way I use this seasoning in to make taco meat. I like to prepare a big batch and enjoy it all week in eggs, salads, inside baked potatoes or even on pizza.

Here is how to make amazing gluten free taco meat.

    1. Heat up a skillet to medium heat with 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil then add about 5-6 teaspoons of the taco seasoning to the pan and stir it into the oil. Add 1-2 teaspoons of chicken stock or water to help stir it into a delicious sauce.
    2. Add in some ground turkey, beef or chicken and break it up in the pan while tossing and cooking it in the sauce. Once it is mostly cooked (no longer pink) turn off the heat and let it continue cooking for a few minutes. Serve and enjoy!
    3. You can also let it cool and transfer it to an airtight container and keep it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Use it in tacos, on pizza, in burritos and more!

Homemade taco seasoning is so versatile and can be used to add great flavor to so many dishes and it also costs much less than buying the store-bought versions. Plus it is healthier since you know exactly what is in it.

I also like the fact that you can easily control the salt as well.

How to store gluten free taco seasoning

It is easy to make this blend and store it for up to 6 months. You can just mix all of the spices together in a bowl and transfer the spice blend to a glass jar with a lid. Label it and store it in a cool, dry place for up to 6 months.

Love this seasoning. Just the right amounts. Best of all less salt. Love it. Coriander adds so much. Who new!

      Thanks Amy
