Best Type Of Sausage To Use
This recipe is very versatile, but I recommend using precooked chicken sausage. Any fully cooked sausage links or kielbasa will work well. Cut the sausage into 1-inch pieces so it cooks quickly and evenly alongside the potatoes and vegetables in the air fryer.
What are the best potatoes to use?
I used baby Yukon gold potatoes since they’re easy to work with and require minimal chopping. They also cook quickly, which makes them perfect for the air fryer. You can use any type of potatoes, including sweet potatoes, russet potatoes, or red potatoes—just be sure to cut them into 1–1½-inch pieces so everything cooks evenly.

Expert Tips and Notes
If you love cooking with your air fryer, this recipe is sure to become a staple. It cooks quickly, is full of flavor, and packed with protein and vegetables. Follow these tips for perfect results every time:
- Cut evenly – Cut the potatoes and vegetables into similar-sized pieces so everything cooks evenly. Aim for 1–1½-inch pieces for best air fryer results.
- Don’t overcrowd the air fryer – Spread the ingredients in a single layer in the air fryer basket to allow proper air circulation and even browning.
- Oil lightly – A small amount of oil helps the potatoes and vegetables get crispy without becoming greasy. You can also use an olive oil spray to keep the recipe lighter.
- Shake halfway – Shake or stir the ingredients in the air fryer basket halfway through cooking to ensure even crisping and flavor.
Recipe Variations
- Swap the potatoes – Use chopped sweet potatoes or fingerling potatoes. Cut into similar-sized pieces so they cook evenly in the air fryer.
- Change the vegetables – Skip the bell peppers and onion and use broccoli or cauliflower instead.
- Switch up the seasoning – Use taco seasoning, Cajun seasoning, or any seasoning blend you love.
- Finish with a sauce – Drizzle with romesco sauce or pesto after cooking for extra flavor.
