Ingredients and Substitutions

- Cottage cheese – I used full fat Good Culture cottage cheese but any large curd cottage cheese will work.
- Creamy peanut butter – I use a salted caramel protein peanut butter but you can use any creamy peanut butter.
- Maple syrup – real maple syrup adds sweetness to the cookie dough keeping it naturally sweetened without any refined sugar.
- Oat flour – I used ground oat flour but you could also use almond flour.
- Vanilla protein powder – a good quality protein powder like Clean Simple Eats adds protein and great flavor. If you are not a fan of protein powder then use almond flour in place of it. The cookie dough will have less protein but it will still be delicious.
- Vanilla extract – adds warmth to the cookie dough giving it that chocolate chip cookie taste.
- Chocolate chips – I used Lily’s sugar free chocolate chips but you can use any chocolate chips you have.
- Flaky sea salt – optional but the salt adds a nice finishing touch that elevates this cookie dough to a whole new level.

Can you bake cottage cheese cookie dough to make cookies?
This easy edible cookie dough recipe was made as a no bake treat so I do not recommend trying to use it to bake cookies.
Storage Tips
Store in the refrigerator: This cookie dough with cottage cheese is best stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Stir it when you are ready to enjoy it since it can settle a bit in the fridge.
Store in the Freezer: while this cookie dough can be frozen I do not recommend it since it does lose some flavor and is best if stored in the fridge.

Cottage Cheese Cookie Dough
- Total Time: 10 minutes
- Yield: 4 servings 1x
- Diet: Gluten Free
Description
This edible cottage cheese cookie dough is the best healthy treat! It is made with cottage cheese, peanut butter, oat flour and protein powder and is packed with protein. Plus it is an easy egg-free, gluten free, refined sugar free dessert that you can enjoy every day! You are going to LOVE IT!
Ingredients
- 1 cup cottage cheese
- 2 tablespoons creamy peanut butter
- 1–2 tablespoons maple syrup – see notes
- ½ cup oat flour or almond flour
- ½ cup vanilla protein powder – I used Clean Simple Eats brand
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup chocolate chips – I used Lily’s brand
- Flaky sea salt – optional for topping
Instructions
- Add the cottage cheese, peanut butter and maple syrup to a high speed blender and blend on high until fully combined. Add the blended cottage cheese mixture to a medium size mixing bowl.
- Add in the flour, protein powder and vanilla and mix well to fully combine into a thick cookie dough. Note: if the cookie dough base appears to be too runny then add more flour, if it appears too thick then add more cottage cheese or 1-2 tablespoons of milk (any type).
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Serve or chill and enjoy!
Notes
- The protein powder you use matter’s since some are more dense than others. I tested this recipe with Clean Simple Eats brand (more smooth and runny) and Orgain brand (thicker and chunkier).
- You can choose to blend the cottage cheese or not. I found the cookie dough was easier to mix and had a better texture when blended.
- Add an extra tablespoon of maple syrup if you are using a protein powder that is less sweetened.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
