I have been obsessed with using my air fryer lately, mostly because my kids can pretty much cook anything using it. We have made air fryer mini bagels, air fryer pizza, air fryer biscuits, and now these amazing air fryer cinnamon rolls.
We used the same Greek yogurt + flour method as we did with these air fryer bagels and the results were amazing!
Traditional cinnamon rolls take 2-3 hours to make so we love this recipe that can be ready in about 20 minutes! What’s better is these cinnamon rolls made in the air fryer are only 110 calories and 6 grams of sugar per serving! Which makes them the best healthy breakfast pastry ever!
My kids said they were better than the canned Pillsbury cinnamon rolls, so I will take that as a complement.
Let’s be honest, they are not regualr cinnamon rolls that are loaded with butter and sugar (which is delicious) but for healthy cinmaon rolls they are pretty amazing!

Can you make cinnamon rolls in the air fryer?
Yes, you can since the air fryer acts as a mini tabletop oven and they come out perfectly fluffy and so flavorful!
Best Greek yogurt to use for these cinnamon rolls
Nonfat plain Greek yogurt is best. Here are my favorites!
- Fage
- Chobani
- Stonyfield
- Siggis
Ingredients for homemade air fryer cinnamon rolls
You only need a few simple ingredients to make these amazing cinnamon rolls. Here is what you’ll need to make them!
- Greek yogurt – plain nonfat Greek yogurt worked best in this recipe since it has less water in it. I tested these cinnamon rolls with vanilla Greek yogurt and full-fat Greek yogurt and the dough was stickier and more difficult to work with.
- Self-rising flour – to reduce the ingredients, we used self-rising flour which is just a combination of regular flour and baking powder.
- Salt – just a pinch for to enhance the other flavors.
- Butter – Softened butter at room temperature works best.
- Brown sugar – you can use light or dark brown sugar.
- Cinnamon – for that warm cinnamon flavor
- Healthy cream cheese frosting – Greek yogurt, cream cheese, confectioners sugar or maple syrup, vanilla. Or use any cream cheese frosting you like.

Step 1: Combine the yogurt and flour in a medium bowl.
Step 2: Knead the dough until a smooth ball of dough forms.
Step 3: Roll the dough into a 12×10-inch rectangle that is about ¼ inch in thickness.
Step 4: Mix up the cinnamon sugar with the softened butter and spread it evenly over the dough.
Step 5: Carefully roll up the dough into a long log.
Step 6: Cut the dough into even-sized slices that are about 1.5 inches thick.
Step 7: Place the cinnamon rolls into the air fryer in an even layer.
Step 8: Cook at 360°F for 8-10 minutes until golden and cooked through.
Step 9: Mix up the healthy cream cheese frosting by combining all of the frosting ingredients in a medium bowl.
Step 10: Spread the frosting over the cinnamon rolls and enjoy!
It seems like a lot of steps but they are each super quick and the cinnamon rolls cook in the air fryer in about 8 minutes! They come out perfectly golden and fluffy and are so good!
Pro tip: Don’t roll the dough too thin or the cinnamon rolls will fall apart as you cut them. I found that rolling it to about ¼ inch thickness worked great!
Expert tips for the best results
- You can frost the cinnamon rolls right away or allow them to cool first.
- Use nonfat greek yogurt since it seems to work better and make the dough less sticky.
- Knead the dough, adding a little bit of flour each time until it is smooth and no longer sticky, 2-3 minutes. I added about 2-3 tablespoons of the extra flour as I was kneading.
- When rolling the dough, add some flour to the surface and use a dough scraper to make it easier to roll. I would say this was the biggest challenge for me with this recipe but if you follow the recipe, you should get a nice, sturdy dough that rolls pretty easily.
- Cut the cinnamon rolls into even pieces so they all cook at the same time.
Storage
If you happen to have leftover cinnmaon rolls they can be stored in a covered container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Reheating: Microwave for 20-30 seconds or reheat in the air fryer for 2-3 minutes at 350°F.
FAQs
They cook in 8-10 minutes at 360°F in most air fryers. I tried this recipe in multiple air fryers and found that about 8-9 minutes of cooking was the sweet spot.
I have found that the parchment paper air fryer liners work best since they are made for the air fryer.

Yes, simply use a combination of 1 cup +¼ cup gluten-free all purpose flour + 1 tablespoon baking powder for a gluten-free version.
While this may work, I did not test this variation, so please let me know how it turns out!

Easy Air Fryer Cinnamon Rolls
- Total Time: 18 minutes
- Yield: 11–12 cinnamon rolls 1x
- Diet: Low Calorie
Description
Ingredients
For the cinnamon rolls
- 1 cup + ¼ cup nonfat plain Greek yogurt
- 1 cup + ¼ cup self-rising flour
- 3 tablespoons softened butter
- ⅓ cup light brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
For The Healthy Cream Cheese Frosting
- 4 ounces softened cream cheese
- 2 tablespoons Greek yogurt
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ cup powdered sugar or maple syrup
- 1–2 tablespoons milk to thin out if needed
Instructions
- Add the Greek yogurt and flour to a medium mixing bowl and mix well to combine into a crumbly dough. I like to use a fork or my hands to do this.
- Transfer the dough onto a well-floured surface and use your hands to knead it for 2-3 minutes until a smooth ball of dough forms and the dough feels less sticky. You can sprinkle some more flour over the dough as you knead it, which helps if it is sticky. I ended up adding 2-3 tablespoons of extra flour as I was kneading and it was perfect.
- Use a rolling pin to roll the dough into a 12×10-inch rectangle that is about ¼ inch in thickness. Note: do not roll it out too thin or the cinnamon rolls may fall apart.
- Mix up the cinnamon, sugar, and butter in a small bowl. I microwaved it for 20-30 seconds to loosen it up so it was easier to spread. Then spread it evenly over the dough, leaving about a ½-inch border around the edges.
- Then carefully roll up the dough starting from the longer side, into a long log. I used a floured dough scraper to help release the dough from the counter as I was rolling it. Go slowly and it should roll up nicely.
- Cut the dough into 10-12 even-sized slices that are about 1.5 inches thick.
- Preheat the air fryer to 360°F and spray the air fryer basket well with cooking spray or use parchment paper to line to basket to prevent sticking. Place the cinnamon rolls, cut side up into the air fryer basket (it is okay if they are touching but make sure they are in an even layer). Close and cook for 8-10 minutes until golden and cooked through. Let them cool for a few minutes.
- Use a hand mixer or whisk to combine the frosting ingredients (soft cream cheese, Greek yogurt, powdered sugar, and vanilla) in a medium bowl until smooth.
- Spread the frosting over the cinnamon rolls and enjoy!
Notes
- I recommend using nonfat plain Greek yogurt for this recipe since other versions resulted in a stickier dough.
- Air fryers vary so check the cinnamon rolls at around 8 minutes then continue cooking as needed.
- You can use any cream cheese frosting you like, we just love this healthier version.
- Store leftovers in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat portions in the air fryer or microwave until warmed through or eat them straight from the fridge!
