Ingredients and Substitutions
This date snickers recipe is so simple and easy to make, you only need 4 main ingredients. Here is what you’ll need:

- Medjool dates – medjool dates with the pits in are best since they will be fresher and sweeter.
- Creamy peanut butter – I used a salted caramel protein peanut butter that was epic but any creamy nut butter will work.
- Peanuts – salted, roasted peanuts work best. You can really use any nuts you like or have on hand.
- Chocolate chips – I used dark chocolate chips but any chocolate chips will work.
- Coconut oil – just a little bit helps the chocolate become looser and silkier which makes it easier to dip the stuffed dates.
- Flaky sea salt – this is an optional ingredient but makes these date snickers a little fancier and flavorful. They are so good!

How To Make Date Snickers
Here is a summary with step-by-step photos for how to make this healthy snickers recipe.

- Prep the dates: Slice each date lengthwise and remove the pit. Place them on a parchment-lined pan or plate.

- Fill with peanut butter: Use a small spoon or piping bag to fill each date about ¾ full with peanut butter.

- Add the chopped peanuts and chill.

- Melt the chocolate.

5. Dip and top: Using two forks, dip each date in the melted chocolate, letting the excess drip off. Return to the pan and sprinkle with flaky sea salt and chopped peanuts.

6. Chill and serve: Refrigerate 10–15 minutes until set, then enjoy!
Expert Tips For The Best Date Snickers
- Use soft Medjool dates – They’re larger, sweeter, and easier to fill than other varieties. If they’re a bit firm, soak them in warm water for 5 minutes and pat dry.
- Don’t overfill with peanut butter – A little goes a long way. Overfilling makes them hard to dip and messy to eat. I found that using a piping bag was the best way to fill the dates with peanut butter. You can also use a sandwich Ziplock bag, fill it with the peanut butter and cut off one end to use for piping.
- Add coconut oil to the chocolate – The use of coconut oil when melting the chocolate makes it silky and easier for dipping .
- Add a pinch of salt – A sprinkle of flaky sea salt on top enhances the chocolate and peanut butter flavors.
- Freeze before dipping – Chilling the filled dates first helps them hold their shape and makes dipping in chocolate much easier.
How to Store Homemade 5 Ingredient Snickers Dates
Store in the freezer in a freezer safe container for up to 2 months – thaw on the counter for 15 minutes before eating.
Store in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 1 week. Perfect for having this healthy treat on hand.

Easy Date Snickers
- Total Time: 15 minutes
- Yield: 10–12 date snickers 1x
- Diet: Gluten Free
Description
These no bake date snickers come together easily with just 5 ingredients. The dates are filled with creamy peanut butter and crunchy peanuts then dipped in melted chocolate. They make the best healthy treat everyone will love!
Ingredients
- 10 medjool dates
- 4–5 tablespoons creamy peanut butter
- ¼ cup peanuts – chopped
- ½ cup dark chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoons coconut oil
- Flaky sea salt – optional but so good
Instructions
- Use a paring knife to carefully slice each date down the middle but don’t cut them all the way through since they will become the vessel for the peanut butter filling. Remove the pits and discard them, then place the pitted dates onto a lined pan.
- Fill each date with peanut butter using a small spoon or add the peanut butter to the Ziplock sandwich bag and cut off one end to pipe the peanut butter easily into each date. Make sure not to fill them too much, about ¾ full is a good amount.
- Then top each filled date with some chopped peanuts. Place them into the freezer for 30 minutes, until the peanut butter is set. This makes it easier to dip them in the chocolate.
- Add the chocolate chips and coconut oil to a microwave-safe dish and melt the chocolate in the microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring in between until the chocolate is fully melted – about 90 seconds.
- Remove the filled dates from the freezer, and use two forks to carefully dip each fully into the chocolate, allowing any excess chocolate to drip off, then place each one back onto the lined pan. Top with more chopped peanuts and flaky sea salt. Note: make sure to top the dipped dates while the chocolate is till wet so the toppings stick better.
- Place the chocolate dipped snickers dates into the fridge to set for 10-15 minutes. Then serve and enjoy!
Notes
- Use Medjool dates since they are sweeter and fresher. I prefer dates with the pits in them since they have more flavor and tend. to be softer.
- I used a salted caramel protein peanut butter that was amazing but any creamy nut butter will work.
- Don’t skip chilling the filled dates before dipping them in the chocolate, chilling them makes it much easier to dip them without the filling falling out.
- Store these snickers made from dates in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 7 days. Store them in the freezer in a freezer-safe container for up to 2 months.
