Description

These homemade croutons are the best easy croutons recipe! They have a wonderful crusty outer layer with a perfectly chewy center that is amazing. Use any type of bread or seasoning you like. Serve these croutons on salad or soup all week long!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups cubed bread (preferably day-old ciabatta bread)
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 cup nutritional yeast seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon adobo seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon dried basil
  • salt and pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Add the olive oil, nutritional yeast seasoning, adobo, chili powder and dried basil to a medium-size mixing bowl and whisk. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
  3. Add the 4 cups of cubed bread to the bowl and toss to coat. I used my hands to do this.
  4. Spread the seasoned bread onto the baking sheet in a single layer. Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, toss halfway through.
  5. Once the bread is nice and crispy brown, remove and serve immediately on top of your favorite salad or soup or enjoy as a snack. You could also cool the croutons completely and then store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

  1. You could also use a gluten-free bread for gluten-free croutons.
  2. Ranch or taco seasoning also work great for seasoning the croutons.
