Description
Air fryer ham makes the perfect delicious family or holiday meal everyone will love. It is made using a boneless ham that is covered in a homemade orange glaze and then perfectly cooked right in the air fryer.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3-5 pound precooked spiral ham – boneless
For the glaze
- 1/4 cup coconut sugar
- 1/4 cup date syrup
- 2 tablespoons butter or ghee
- 3 tablespoons fresh orange juice or store-bought
- 1 tablespoon dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- Pinch of kosher salt
Instructions
- Prepare the ham. Remove the ham from the packaging and dry it all over with a clean paper towel. Spread out a large piece of foil (enough to wrap and cover the whole ham) then place the ham into the center of the foil. You may need to use two large pieces of foil. Pull the edges of the foil up slightly to make a nice basket for the ham. Set aside.
- Make the glaze. To make the glaze add all of the glaze ingredients to a medium-sized pot on the stovetop and bring it all to a boil while whisking it. Then let it boil for about 60 seconds and reduce the heat to a simmer for 2-3 minutes. Remove it from the heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
- Glaze the ham. Use a wire brush or silicone brush to brush 1/3 of the glaze all over the ham. Let the ham sit at room temperature for 15-20 minutes.
- Cook. Preheat the air fryer to 320 degrees F. Once the air fryer is ready, carefully transfer the ham in the foil and place it into the air fryer basket. Cover the ham with the foil, close and cook it for 20 minutes. Then open the air fryer, pull the foil down and apply another 1/3 of the glaze all over the ham. Close the foil over the ham again and cook it for another 20 minutes.
- Reapply the glaze and finish cooking. Open the air fryer, pull the foil down around the edges of the ham and apply the remaining glaze all over the ham. This time do not cover the ham with foil. Increase the air fryer temperature to 360 degrees F and cook the ham for 3-4 more minutes.
- Slice and serve. Remove the ham carefully from the air fryer, slice, and serve with your favorite sides.
Notes
- Ham – make sure to buy a ham that will fit into your air fryer. Most air fryers can fit a 3-4 pound ham. Use a precooked, spiral ham that is unglazed.
- Foil – the use of foil in this recipe makes it easier to transfer the ham in and out of the air fryer and it makes a nice basket for the ham to cook in. Plus clean up is a breeze!
- Storing – fully cooked ham can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. It can also be stored in a freezer-friendly container in the freezer for up to 3 months.
- Reheating – you can reheat ham in the microwave, or in the air fryer at 325 degrees F for a few minutes. To reheat ham in the oven: place sliced ham in a baking pan, and cover it with some broth or water. Cover the pan with foil and cook at 325 degrees F for 10-12 minutes per pound.
