Description

Creamy, decadent-tasting, healthy chocolate protein shake that you will want to make every day. Blended frozen bananas, chocolate protein powder, and almond milk make this smoothie super simple and packed with protein. 5 minutes to make, and it is both vegan and gluten-free!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2-3 medium ripe bananas (peeled, chopped, and frozen for at least 8 hours)
  • 2 scoops of chocolate protein powder
  • 1  cup of plain almond milk or soy milk

Optional for topping

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender and blend on high for 30-60 seconds.
  2. Pour into glasses, top with your favorite toppings, serve cold, and enjoy!

Notes

  1. Freeze your bananas in advance so you always have them on hand to make this speedy protein shake. I basically just cut the bananas into 1-2 inch pieces. A great job for the kids to help out with since they can break it apart using their hands and just place it into a freezer-friendly bag.
  2. Use a good quality protein powder – I prefer plant-based protein powders that you can find online or in most grocery stores for a decent price. Make sure it is made with as many whole ingredients as possible.
  3. Use any type of milk you like – I opted for almond milk in this recipe but you can use oat milk, hemp milk, or regular cow’s milk.
  4. Swap the creamy peanut butter with creamy almond butter – if you have a peanut allergy or you want to keep this recipe fully anti-inflammatory, then creamy almond butter works as a perfect swap for the peanut butter.
  5. Add in some greens – frozen avocado, spinach, or kale all work as nice additions to this recipe. Note: Adding greens will result in a slightly green tint to the color of the shake but it will still be crazy good!
