I was once again at the farmer’s market in my town this weekend and they had an abundance of beautiful blackberries that I could not pass up! I bought a bunch and they were so good. I love the texture (which is not for everyone, even my mom was skeptical but they won her over) and the mixture of sweet and tangy tastes that differ from one blackberry to the next. I just love them! They can also hold their own especially in this recipe. Overnight oats, such a hearty and delicious way to start your day! You have to try this!
The combo of bananas with the blackberries and oats in this creamy mixture of almond milk with a splash of maple syrup and a dash of cinnamon. C’mon! This recipe is a no brainer and you can make it in advance, which you all know is kind of my thing and rightly so due to my crazy working mom/wifey life, which I love in every way. Those little munchkins are worth all the stress in the world even when they refuse to go to bed at night so Mommy and Daddy can have some me/us time.
I just need to take a moment and talk to you about oats. For me they are a pretty incredible food due to fact that most are gluten free (but make sure you check the package), full of fiber, protein and good carbs. Whenever I have oatmeal for breakfast it just sets me up for a good day. It provides me with all of the energy I need to tackle even the craziest mornings and most of them are crazy.
Look at how cute and pretty this recipe looks! It makes me want to jump out of bed! Which I typically do since I am a morning person (the only one in my house). I don’t know what it is about the early morning when everyone is still sleeping and the house is so quiet. My perfect time of day.
I always start my day with a good breakfast and a delicious french-pressed black coffee. I need a hearty breakfast since I get up early and I need it to hold me over until lunch on most days so it cannot be a wimpy recipe and this one fits the bill.
If you are looking for a quick, make ahead breakfast that also allows you to use up your fruit and power you through your day then this recipe is for you! Enjoy!
